The design of the A I R cardigan is modern and minimalistic.
Simple and clear do the lines of the Brioche pattern marry up with the light and airy welthase yak lace and kidsilk yarn.
Here shape and pattern create an elegant, airy appearance.

Knitted two stranded with the beautiful welthase yak lace and welthase kidsilk, the cardigan is light as a feather: it weights less than 400g.
The A I R cardigan is knitted double stranded seamlessly top down in Brioche (or Fishermans Rib) Pattern.

A I R starts with a provisional cast on for the collar at the center of the back and will be worked in two directions until stitches are picked up for the fronts and back and will join the collar stitches. The collar is contingiously worked together with the fronts in Brioche Pattern. Once you ́ve finished the entire body, it will be folded to the inside and sewed on.
Front and back are worked seperately to final armhole lenght and then joined and worked in one piece in Brioche Pattern until it ́s time for the ribbing.

Unlike the usual, the instructions for the sizes are given by using body measurements (in centimeters) instead of stitch counts.
Please have a look at the schematics drawings at the end of the pattern.
The sewing is essential in all parts. It helps to fix the shape of the cardigan. Brioche knitting is very elastic and would otherwise just widen very much.

The pattern is suitable for not so experienced knitters who have experience in knitting Brioche and do like to pay attention to details acc. to hemming.

Yarn:
2(2,2,3,3,3,3) skeins of welthase yak lace & 4(4,4,5,5,5,6) skeins of welthase kidsilk, one strand of yak lace and kidsilk are held together. Shades of the sample are in yak lace „golden grey“ and in kidsilk „siam“.

Needle:
1 x 4,5mm/US 7 circular needle 80cm long
1 x 4mm/US 7 circular needle 80cm long
1 x 3,25mm/US 3 circular needle 80cm long (for magic loop)

Gauge:
18 stitches x 44 rows in brioche pattern, unblocked = 10cm or 4 inches It`s easier to count: 1 visible stitch counts for 2 rows.

Sizes:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 for bust sizes 70-80, 80-90, 90-100, 100-110, 110-120, 120-130, 130-140
to be worn with a lot of ease (15-30cm), upper arm sizes 25, 26-28, 28-31, 31-35, 35-43, 43-47cm, neat fit, to be worn with 3-8cm positive ease.

Das Design des A I R Cardigans ist modern und minimalistisch.
Wunderbar klare Linien strahlen Eleganz und Ruhe aus. Das schön voluminöse Patent-, oder im folgenden Brioche genannte, Muster kommt in dem zweifägig gestrickten welthase yak lace und welthase kidsilk ganz zeitlos anschmiegsam zur vollen Entfaltung.
Federleicht (nur 400g!) und warm, wie ein Luftzug, eine warme Berührung im Wind….diese Jacke muss einfach A I R heißen….
Sie schmeichelt jeder Figur und hat das Zeug zum Klassiker.

Der A I R Cardigan wird zweifädig und saumlos von oben nach unten im Briochemuster gestrickt.
A I R beginnt mit einer provisorischen Maschenaufnahme für den Schalkragen im Nacken. Der Kragen wird von da ausgehend in beiden Richtungen gestrickt, dann werden daraus Maschen für den Rücken aufgenommen und die Schulternaht wird etabliert. An dieser erscheinen zu Beginn zusätzliche Maschen für den Schalkragen. Maschen für die Vorderteile und den Rücken werden in jeder Reihe entlang des Schultersaumes zugenommen. Der Kragen wird kontinuierlich mit den Vorderteilen in einem Stück gestrickt.
Vorder- und Rückenteile werden bis zum Erreichen der Armlochhöhe separat gestrickt. Danach wird in einem Stück bis zum Bündchen runtergestrickt.
Die Maschen für die Ärmel werden aus den Armlöchern aufgenommen und runtergestrickt.

Bündchen werden über die doppelte Länge gestrickt und gesäumt, der Schalkragen wird nach innen geschlagen und gesäumt. Die Schulternaht wird von innen zusätzlich fixiert.

All dies wird in der Anleitung genau erläutert und mit Fotos und Zeichnungen ausführlich illustriert.

Der A I R Cardigan ist auch für nicht so erfahrene Strickerinnen geeignet, die schon mal Patent- oder Brioche gestrickt haben oder das leicht finden.
