Akay is a mitten knitted in latvian style with a corrugated ribbing and two latvian braids. Only two colours are used in one row.

The colourwork-pattern is a variation of a turkish key pattern.

It is very important to check the row gauge. If you are off gauge, I suggest you to knit the mittens top down. Then you have got the possibility to adjust the position of the thumb and the length of the mitten easily by adding or skipping a few rows without disturbing the key pattern.
