These mittens are knit according to the Norwegian Selbu tradition; two-stranded in the round on dpns. The thumb is gusseted and the decreases are made in each side of hand/thumb, so that it lays flat and is pointed.

The pattern is written in detail, and there’s a section at the end with lots of tips and explanations to help you get the best result.

Gauge:
36 sts per 10 cm/4”

Materials:

  • Yarn: Wool yarn 175 metres per 50 grams and dpns size 2.5 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge). Suggestion: Finull by Rauma Garn. Main colour: approx. 40 grams / 140 metres Contrast colour: approx. 35 grams / 120 metres
  • Dpns size 2.5 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge).
  • Darning needle
  • A bit of scrap yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches
