Alabaster
This entire pattern is charted.
Charts should be read right to left, with only RS rows being shown. On WS rows, purl all stitches as shown, purl all yarnovers, but be very careful to knit the knit stitches as shown (these are purls on the RS).
There are two border stitches on each end that should be knit every row. Chart shows a center stitch, and then the chart starts again from right to left after the two border stitches. Increases are made by performing a YO after every 2 stitch border and before and after the center stitch on RS rows only. It’s recommended to place stitch markers between the border stitches and the body of the shawl, and before and after the center stitch.
ERRATA ALERT: After Chart A, the number of stitches should be 29 (not 17). After Chart B, the number of stitches should be 317 (not 329). Finally, once you reach chart C, on rows 1, 3, and 5 of chart C, you should begin these rows with an SKP (instead of centered double decrease), and OMIT the YO at the end of the pattern repeat. (You should still perform the YO right before the center stitch.)
