This pattern was designed for a good friend with a quick mind. The lace pattern was created by assigning numbers to the letters of her first name and using these to designate the location of the increases and decreases. My hope is that she, as someone with considerable knitting aptitude and quick intellect, will appreciate this (rather nerdy) technique.
