This is a simplified version of the Alatau Pullover I designed three years ago. This version allows for easier customization of the ease in the chest and upper arm circumferences.
You can knit the matching Alatau Hat and use it as a gauge swatch for this pullover!

Note: If your chest measurement falls between the sizing increments, choose the larger size.
Yarn: Harrisville Designs Daylights, woolen spun DK, 80% American Cormo, and 20% Wool, 250 yards per 100g skein, sample knit in Caffeine colorway, 3 (4, 4, 5, 6, 6) skeins

Gauge: 21 sts x 24 rounds in 4”/10 cm in ktbl, p1 twisted rib after wet-blocking, using gauge needles
Needles:
-
16 “/40 cm and 32”/80 cm circular needles and DPNs in size needed to obtain gauge (recommended size is US 6 /4 mm)
-
16 “/40 cm needle one size larger than gauge needle (for turtleneck option only)
-
16 “/40 cm needle one size smaller than gauge needle (for crewneck option only)
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, waste yarn
The pullover is knit top-down and in the round. Stitches are cast on provisionally, so you can decide later whether to add a turtleneck or leave it as crewneck. The sweater is worked in a chevron pattern which continues onto the sleeves. The sleeves have a snug fit (0-2” of positive ease), whereas the body features quite a bit of ease (recommended 4-8” of positive ease). You can customize the amount of ease in the body and sleeves.
Please see the Customization notes on Page 6 before you choose your size.
If you are substituting yarn, the worsted weight may work better than DK, as it is important to have a firm fabric at the given gauge. Choosing a yarn with good stitch definition and memory is also important.
Low Vision Accessibility: This pattern is written in 22-point sans serif font (Arial) in all-black text. It has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. The charts are also provided in a larger print in black color.
