Alchemilla
Alchemilla is an asymmetric triangle designed to show off a subtle variegated yarn, or to create striking texture from a solid colour.
The body of the shawl is worked sideways, in alternating bands of garter and rippling stockinette which have been sneakily designed so that all the fancy stuff happens on the RS (where you can see what you’re knitting), and the back is simply purled.
It combines texture and lace to blend colours and highlight short run colour change and gently variegated yarns. Alternatively, a solid or semisolid yarn will emphasise the texture of the stitch pattern.
- The size of the shawl is adaptable and can be worked to any size.
- Suits fingering to worsted weight yarn in any yardage between approx 400m and 900m.
- The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
Pattern rows are worked on the right side only.
