Alder beanie
This beanie is a relatively simple fair isle pattern decorated with a few Latvian braids and two colour ribbing.
It is worked bottom up in the round using fingering weight yarn and 3 mm/US 2.5 needles.
I used a discontinued silk merino yarn which is approx 400 yards per 100 grams. You may use any yarn blend that matches the gauge.
i would suggest using Jamiesons of Shetland as a good option.
The pattern comes in one standard size to fit both men and women but can be adjusted in the brim section to fit a larger/smaller head.
It is a relatively simple design and should be appropriate for beginner fair isle knitters as well.
You may alter the pattern in the stockinette section so that it may fit as a slouchy hat instead of a beanie.
Make sure to check your gauge after blocking the swatch first.
Hope you give this hat a go, it is a super fun knit and keeps ones interest. It would make a perfect gift and is perfect for the transitional season as it is done in finer yarn.
