Alderfen Cowl
There is a KAL over in my group for this pattern - come and join us!
Alderfen is a favourite place of mine – a land locked Broad in my home county of Norfolk, in the UK. This simple to knit cowl uses traditional lace motifs which flow easily from one to another. It knits up quickly in the round in 8ply - DK yarn and can be easily adjusted to other sizes or yarns. As is it knitted in the round all the rows are knit rows, with the lace stitches happening every other row. This cowl was designed for a beginner lace workshop at Skein Sisters in Sydney.
Both charted and written instructions are included in this pattern. The blocked and relaxed piece as knitted measured approximately 36cm – 14in high x 64cm – 25in circumference, however the final size will vary according to your own choice of yarn and needle, as well as your knitting tension. I knit fairly loosely and used 3.5mm 4US needles. If your knitting is tight, I would recommend 3.75mm 5US or 4mm 6US needles.
