Aleksandra Tank
Aleksandra Tank is a light fitted tank top worked from top to bottom. This tank is worked in a stretchy 2x1 rib, with center drop stitches and i-cord finishing.
The tank has a recommended negative ease of approx. 5-10 cm. Of course you can choose the size you want to knit, depending on the type of fit you desire – see the measurements below. If you find yourself in between two sizes, I recommend choosing a smaller size. Keep in mind that the recommended yarn is a cotton/linen blend. If you choose to use a different yarn that meets the gauge, for example a merino or other pure wool, the stretch will be much different. So do a swatch and compare measurements of the finished gauge to make sure. Cotton/linen yarns do not stretch the same way and generally are the same gauge washed as unwashed. This is not the case for wool.
Workflow:
The entire tank is worked in the same 2x1 rib pattern. First the straps are worked individually back and forth. Then the straps are joined to form the front. Here begin two center lines of dropped stitches which will continue the whole way down the front. Increases are made for the armholes. Then the back is worked with increases for the armholes and joined to the front. The body is then worked in the round in the rib pattern until desired length and finished with an i-cord edge. Stitches are picked up for the neckline and armholes, which are worked with an i-cord finish.
