Alewife Cap
Description:
This unisex watchman’s cap features two decrease panels on either side, and looks its best when worn tight to the head, or with a slight amount of ease at the crown. Made in a forgiving and stretchy 2x1 rib, this hat can fit most women and men with a head circumference of 21 - 24 inches.
Gauge:
20 stitches by 30 rows = 4” of stockinette on US 8s with worsted weight yarn.
Materials:
2 skeins of Stone Wool Shale in 002 Gogh for MC and 004 Henri for CC
or
200 yards of any worsted weight yarn.
US 8 (5 mm) 16” circular needle
US 8 (5 mm) set of DPNs
Tapestry Needle
4 Stitch Markers
Finished Measurements:
After blocking, this hat measures a relaxed (rib un-stretched) circumference of 17 inches, and a height of 10.5 inches with an unfolded brim. This hat looks best with little or no ease at the top of the crown. The sample is worn with a folded 3” brim.
