A lightweight, delicate lace shawl, with a touch of color.
Alexandrina features a “mixed” construction that makes it interesting to knit and fabulous to wear. The top part is worked as a crescent shawl, while the bottom is worked sideways, similarly to a very large attached border.
The construction idea was born out of my desire to avoid having too many stitches on needle, which I find so boring!
The pattern uses two simple lace stitches, mixed with some garter rows.
Both lace patterns are based on a super simple 6-stitch repeat, which also makes this shawl a suitable knit for lace beginners. It’s the unusual combination of stitches, garter stripes and the uncommon construction that makes this shawl unique!
