Algren
Algren is an easy-going sweater that knits up quickly in Létt Lopi. Choose a high contrast for a statement piece or go for low contrast for a subdued version. With only very few rows with two colours this would be a good introduction to stranded knitting.
Construction: The sweater is knitted top down seamlessly in rounds. Neck and shoulders are shaped with German short-rows and increases are worked along the raglan lines. After yoke is finished, sleeve stitches are put on hold and body is knitted in the round with a few rounds of stranded knitting for the colour change. Body is finished with a ribbed hem. Sleeve stitches are put back on the needle and sleeves are knitted in the round and are also finished with ribbed cuffs.
Yarn: Istex Léttlopi 100m/109 yards per 50 g, colour 0052 Black Sheep Heather (MC) 6 (6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10) balls; colour 9427 Rust Heather (CC), 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) balls
You may substitute with any yarn that knits up to gauge. Please keep in mind that differences in gauge affect yardage, so make sure to have enough yarn to finish your project.
