This pattern is to make the messenger bag pictured. You will have done in a jiffy using any bulky weight wool! It requires only 2 skeins of Lamb’s Pride Bulky.
It is 9.5” x 7.5” after felting. It has a pleat at the bottom (very easy to do!) to allow a little more room.
Specifics:
Skill Level (1 Easy- 4 Advanced) :
2 Experienced Beginner
Description: This bag is only ranked 2 instead of 1 because of the backstitch seaming. Bag is knit in one long rectangle. Strap is knit separately and then sewn on to body of bag before felting.
Needles: US size 10.5, 29” circular (The circular needles are needed for number of stitches for strap. Do not join, but work back and forth as if on straight needles.)
Yarn: any bulky wool yarn that will felt (not superwash wool)
Yarn used: 1 skein each Lamb’s Pride Bulky in M-01 Sandy Heather and M-06 Deep Charcoal. Each skein: 85% wool, 15% mohair, 4 ounces, 125 yards
Strap drop length: approximately 27” felted
Notions: yarn needle for seaming, button for front closure
Please see my store for hand dyed yarn from Uruguay, handpainted Russian knitting needles from Peace Fleece, wonderful buttons and shawl pins from One World Button Company – all to enhance your knitting experience.
Thanks so much!
