ALICIA Tiny Chi Dog Sweater XS
Here is a lovely, versatile sweater pattern to fit an extra small dog, such as a Chihuahua, Yorkie, or Papillion.
Features that make this pattern extra special include:
♥ wide neck opening makes it easy on & off
♥ seamless, top-down construction
♥ uses worsted (medium) weight yarn or wool
♥ is quick to make
♥ is fashionable and can be varied easily
This sweater was designed for a little dog of this size:
Neck ~ 5.5” (14cm)
Chest ~ 6.5” (16.5cm)
Length ~ 7” (18cm)
The pattern could also be adapted to fit your little dog – just add or subtract rows to change the length, or stitches to reduce the width!
Materials:
~ worsted weight (size 4) yarn, main colour (MC) and a contrasting colour (CC), about 60 yards each
~ crochet hook, size G-6 (4.25mm)
~ yarn needle to weave in ends
Stitches used: ch = chain, slst = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, hdc = half double crochet slst2tog = slip stitch 2 together, sc2tog = single crochet 2 together, sc into back loop only
NOTES:
~You will need a size G/6 (4.25mm) hook, which is not given in the choices of hook size in the template above, so I’ve listed both the 4.0mm and the 4.5mm to give you the idea. Use whichever hook size gets you the right gauge.
~Yarn weight needs to be a regular or light worsted weight, not a heavier one like Red Heart Super Saver, or Moda Dea Vision. If you really want to use a heavier worsted, try using a smaller hook to help you get gauge.
