The alien and flying saucer are two separate pieces, with the alien fitting snugly into the cockpit of the UFO. There is no sewing involved - the alien and UFO are both worked in one piece, with two layers of the UFO joined together with slip stitches at the end, making it a fun pattern without tedious sewing and assembly at the end.
