The Aligned Hat is a cosy DK / 8ply knitting pattern, designed in 4 sizes from newborn up to adult. This stretchy cable and twisted ribbing design is worked in the round, decreasing using your preferred small circumference method, I recommend using the magic loop method. The brim is worked in a standard ribbing, moving into a twisted ribbing for the pattern section. The main hat is made up of twisted stitch ribbing and cabled patterning which is both written and charted so you can work in your preferred way. There are options for a folded or straight brim. This knitted hat looks great with or without a pompom.

Recommended Yarn: DK / 8ply weight
Any smooth, single colour, 100% Polwarth or Merino yarn that you can make gauge. My sample was knitted in Eden by Wild Earth Yarns, using the double brim option.

Gauge:
Knit in pattern in the round, 27 stitches x 28 rounds = 10 cm / 4” (4.5mm / US 7 needles). Measure your gauge as the pattern naturally sits without stretching it out. The ribbing will pull it in, but will also provide a lot of give and stretch.

Notions:

• BOR stitch marker
• Darning needle
• Cable needle
• Tape measure
• Scissors
• Optional: Extra stitch markers for pattern repeats.

Recommended Needles: (adjust needles to meet gauge)
• 4 mm / US 6, 30-40 cm / 12-16” length circular needles for ribbing.
• 4.5 mm / US 7, 30-40 cm / 12-16” length circular needles for main body of hat.
• Your preferred small circumference method for the smallest hat sizes and for the crown decreases. For example Double pointed needles (DPNs) or the magic loop method.
