A Tunisian crochet blanket on the bias made with value yarn for a bold and cozy ombre blanket with consistent and subtle striping throughout

Using value yarn, you can customize the stripes and the ombre fade effect, based on what you use. Easy to make this bigger or smaller, based on the yarn and the desired finished size, this blanket is a great mindless make, after you get started.

Holding the yarn double throughout, this blanket works up quickly and is motivating to get to the next striping section.

Finished size: 56” by 66” after blocking; you will need to wet block this project and aggressively block the Tunisian knit stitch to keep the rectangle shape. You can change the overall size by adding or taking away striping sections in the pattern.

Use a 12mm Tunisian crochet hook with a 60 inch cord; try to get a cord and hook that lock together to help with the weight of the blanket while working it up.

I used 8 skeins of Caron One Pound, so that when holding the yarn double, I didn’t have to make individual cakes. You will not use all of the yarn for the blanket this size, but you will need more than one skein for each color. If you use a different yarn, try to have a few extra skeins, just incase.
