Alita
Meaning “little winged one,” Alita got its name because the shawl, when blocking, looked very much like a wing.
This item is worked as a parallelogram that becomes curved in the finishing, before blocking. Depending on how long you make your initial chain, Alita can be a scarf, a shoulder warmer/shawlette, or a full-sized shawl. It can also be made with any weight of yarn, as long as you use a larger hook than you ordinarily would. The pattern as given pairs fingering weight (sport weight would also probably work just fine) yarn with an H hook, however, you could use lace weight yarn (with a G hook), DK (I), worsted (J/K), or bulky (N/P/Q).
Items made from my patterns are intended for personal use, sale, or world domination--as long as I get a parking space wherever I want once the world is yours.
