This is a chubby mouse with big ears. But these ears aren’t sewn on afterwards like most patterns; they are worked in the round between the head and the body. The whole pattern is worked from nose to tail and requires no seaming or weaving in of ends!

I designed this pattern because I wanted to make a mouse shaped cat toy that wouldn’t turn into a choking hazard or a mess once they ripped out all the ends (as they tend to do). With no weaving in of ends and being worked all in one piece, I can make these for my cats and for other people’s cats without worry. And now, so can you!

You can also follow the same pattern with thicker yarn and make larger worry-free toys for young children!

Necessary Supplies:

  • 2.75 mm crochet hook, or hook in size necessary to create a tight gauge
  • Sport weight yarn, about 10 yards (I prefer to use wool or alpaca)
  • Stuffing of some kind (polyfill, wool fluff, scrap yarn, mylar, shopping bags, catnip, etc.)

Photos are included for the ears section.

You can use whatever yarn you like for this pattern, but keep in mind that smaller than sport weight will result in a smaller FO, and larger will result in a larger FO.
