I used approximately 100 grams of wool 8/2 Kauni Effektgarn (fingering weight) on #5/3.75 needles and just kept knitting until the scarf reached five feet. The width is about 7 inches. Because this has a reversible rib-type pattern, however, the fabric becomes narrow and tubular when wrapping. Vary the yarn and needles to change size. Or, add 12 stitches to the cast on to add two more “ribs”.
