I’ve been wanting to do a smiley face design for awhile and this sweater turned out to be the perfect candidate! This is a very basic sweater pattern, stripes to add a little extra to the sleeves. It’s knit all in stockinette and twisted ribbing. The smiley face design is added on afterwards using the duplicate stitch technique.

For reference, I do not instruct how to knit in my patterns. You need to know basic knitting skills.

Materials Needed

5 skeins We Are Knitters “The Wool” or similar super chunky weight yarn
5 accent colors. Make sure you have at least half a skein of the accent color you want for your smiley face! All of the other colors are only used for 4 rows total each.
Size 15mm straight knitting needles
Darning needle for weaving in ends

Skills Needed

Besides the basic knitting skills, you will need to know how to do twisted ribbing, increases for the sleeves and duplicate stitch. The rest of the sweater is basic.

Finished Measurements

Length- 20”
Width- 28”
Sleeve length- 17.5”

This is a one size pattern.
If you would like a smaller or bigger size, this sweater is very easy to adjust. Basically you’re just going to add or deduct a few rows and stitches. There isn’t anything complex that you’d need to alter.
