Construction
This super chunky knit cardigan is knitted from the top down with raglan shaping. To begin, you will work a double-knit button band to the length of a cast on edge, where you will pick up stitches from one side, as though you were using a longtail cast on. From these picked up stitches, you will make a series of increases to create the shaping, whilst continuing to make the double-knit button band at the same time, with optional buttonholes. The yoke and body are worked back and forth (flat) whilst working the button band at the same time. You will then separate for the sleeves to continue working the body. Once the body is at your desired length, you will pick up the resting stitches for the sleeves, which are knitted in the round, in a waffle-stitch texture whilst making decreases for a tapered fit. Both the body and sleeves are finished with a deep half twisted rib.
