All Who Wander Shawl
Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for ourselves is give ourselves the space to wander. We may not know where we’re going or why we’re going there, but the wandering doesn’t have to mean we’re lost.
The All Who Wander Shawl meanders gently through the gradient. Basic dc rows alternate with simple openwork and the full beauty of the shawl isn’t revealed until you’ve completed the project. Give yourself space to enjoy the journey - the calming repetition of dc rows, the slow transition of the colors, and the joy of creating.

Sample
Sample used Twisted Fiber Art Arial Evolution (fingering weight; 100% sw merino; 340yds/70g), one Large evolution (680yds/140g) in Carousel
Thanks to Twisted Fiber Art for providing the yarn for this pattern
Gauge
The sample was worked to a gauge of 4” = 15 sts and 9 rows in dc. Gauge is not essential as a shawl that is larger or smaller will still fit nicely, and the shawl can also be easily adjusted. If you’re using a different yarn, I recommend going up a hook size or two for slightly looser and more open dc rows.
Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The pattern is specifically designed to work with a gradient. It highlights the subtle color changes and can be customized to size to use up as much as possible of the skein. It’ll also look amazing in a solid or tonal, or in a self-striping with larger blocks of color. If you use a variegated yarn, the openwork likely won’t be as visible.
The sample is shown in fingering weight but the pattern works well in anything from a lace to aran weight.
Size
Size can be customized by working extra/fewer repeats. A shorter piece will be closer to a scarf, and will be more easily worn around the neck. A larger piece can be worn as a scarf or a shawl.
When gauge is met, a small shawl with 340yds/311m/70g has a wingspan of 46”/117cm and measures 14”/35.5 down the back. A medium shawl with 490yds/448m/100g has a wingspan of 51”/130cm and measures 16.5”/42cm down the back. A large shawl with 680yds/622m/140g has a wingspan of 58”/147cm and measures 20”/51cm down the back.
Skills Required

Construction
The pattern is worked seamlessly from the top down. The triangle is shorter in the back and wider along the neck for an accessory that is super wearable.
