Inspired by these wonderful and well-known words by J.R.R. Tolkien, from: The Fellowship of The Ring

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost…

Shortie/ankle socks that are ideal for the warmer months! Knit cuff down in Magic Loop method with heel flap and gusset, this pattern features a very easy to knit decorative detail that is a variation on Double Basket Weave stitch. Easily adaptable for knitting with DPNS. I created a fun Roll Top Rib Cuff and my own variation on the Basket Weave stitch motif. Includes a chart for the texture motif for easy reference, as well as written step-by-step directions. Instructions for a simple Wedge Toe are given in this pattern, but feel free to use your favorite toe (or heel) constructions. The pattern is for shortie/ankle socks, but you can make these as longer socks as well--the texture patterning is very attractive on longer socks too. (Please allow for extra yarn if knitting longer socks). This pattern would be very enjoyable for knitters of all levels of experience. I have knit the model socks in a deliciously soft alpaca-wool blend, but use your favorite 4 ply/fingering weight sock yarn. A solid or tonal/semi-solid color yarn looks very attractive for this design, but also well suited for the special gently speckled yarns. Several sizes to choose from!
