Allison's Boot Sock
I created this sock pattern for my final project in my knitting DeCal class at UC Berkeley. A biologist friend, Allison who works in the field had difficulty finding wool socks that 1) fit her and 2) look somewhat feminine, so I decided to design this pair especially for her.
Fisherman’s Wool by Lions Brand is a nice yarn and is often used for felting. However, the needle size they suggest (size 9) on their package is a bit large for regular knitting unless you plan on felting your project. I suggest a needle size of 6 or 7 for a tighter weave to your end product.
These socks are about a size 8, 8 1/2. You can adjust this pattern to fit your size by lengthening or shortening the instep.
This is the first pattern I’ve ever written so please email me with corrections and I’ll fix the errors. Enjoy!
