Allosaurus
As a former geologist, I have a real appreciation for all things dinosaur! I’ve decided to design some of them for anyone who wants to get to know these ginormous, egantic giants of nature a little better!
Allosaurus is a colossal carnivore dinosaur that stood at the absolute apex of the dino-dinner pyramid. Evidence was found that there were regular rumbles between allosaurus and stegosaurus. And although the allosaurus had the offensive edge, the heavier stegosaurus was pretty proficient at defense: a fossilized allosaurus showed signs that it had been fatally wounded by the spike of a stegosaurus. In any case, if you decide to make my stegosaurus as well, make sure you don’t leave them unsupervised in a room together!
This 28 cm allosaurus was knitted on 2.25 mm needles (UK 13, US 1) in Schachenmayr Merino extrafine 120 (112) mocha, (131) cherry and (102 cream) and filled with toy stuffing. I’ve decided there’s no reason my allosaurus shouldn’t glow in the dark and added strands of Gütermann Sulky Glowy 40 (06) lila and (03) rosa glow-in-the-dark yarn to the knit.
The stegosaurus is a fast, fun and easy project, knitted flat with some i-cords and intarsia color work.
Have a RAWR-some knit!
