Almost Basic Cowl
My husband asked me to knit him a cowl. He wanted a plain and practical cowl to wear during his long work days throughout the cold winter, so I designed the Almost Basic Cowl. The cowl is knit in the round, from the bottom up, with one color of worsted weight yarn and a combination of knit and purl stitches. It has a looser fit along the collarbone and a comfortable but closer fit along the jawline for warmth. The cowl’s functional shape is created with ribbing along the sides, decreasing stitches near the top of the cowl, and switching to smaller needles before the top ribbing.
