Almost Plaid
I discovered a typo on the blocked gauge on 3/8/18. It has been corrected and all versions after that say v1.1 on the bottom of page 2. I have notified everyone who already purchased. The correct Blocked Gauge is 14.5 sts/1” or 2.54 cm or 58 sts to 4”/10cm.
There is now a downloadable worksheet for calculating yardage and gauge for other yarns.
Follow my instructions to make Almost Plaid Scarf in two-colors, in positive and negative, joined by blocks of solid color. The color usage can be customized to your vision.
The stitch pattern is easy to execute, yet stays interesting. Almost Plaid scarf is perfect knitting for multi-tasking and is easy to put down and pick up. I always found myself looking forward to picking it again.
The pattern has written instructions and Action charts, including a chart that can be colored in on the contrast color rows to match your knitting! I think even the simplest project can teach us things, so look to use the flexible long-tail cast on and to graft stitches together. There are notes throughout on how to proceed with color changes, memorize the stitch pattern, and make your Almost Plaid scarf just how you want it. I’ve given the Almost Plaid scarf a moderate rating simply because of the grafting step at the end.
Sample used 252 yards of Blush and 100 yards of Black Cherry (about 70g total). The sample finished is 2.5”/6.35 cm wide and 69”/175.3 cm long.
All charts are Action Charts: do what you see. A knit is always a knit and a purl is always a purl.
Road Maps and Schematic Drawings show “as knit” measurements, knitting technique placement, and knitting direction. “As knit” includes selvedge stitches for seaming or picking up stitches so the measurements may be slightly different than final measurements given.
See page 3 for schematics. See page 4 for techniques specific to this pattern. See page 5 for stitch patterns and charts. Right and left refer to “as worn”.
