Aloe Polyphylla
Easy hat with stranded knitting and beads. You can change the size by altering the size of the yarn and needles you use. I used DK yarn and cast on 100 stitches. The hat fits heads size 21” to 23” easily.
I used 62 grams of the background color and 28 grams of the contrast color. It doesn’t hurt to buy extra, as your gauge may be different to mine.
This hat was an experiment, inspired by the desert plant aloe polyphylla, with it’s perfect spiraled leaves, and also by African and Native American baskets I have seen. It’s interesting how ubiquitous some motifs are around the world, in weaving, basket-making and knitting. I think it’s due to the rectilinear nature of these crafts, as well as the ideas of the individual designers.
