This pattern is inspired by the beautiful yarn Simplicity Spray by Hikoo.
I wanted something new for upcoming cool seasons: scarf, but not strait knitting. I could never be bored by knitting in a bias, it allowed to create desirable width and length, depending how much yarn the knitter has. Simplicity Spray by Hikoo has 456 yards which allows to make reasonable size (70 inch x 13 inch after blocking) shawlette. The colors lined up evenly and I feel like the yarn designed specifically for my pattern.
The shawl knitted in repeat of 19 rows. The simplicity of the pattern makes the knitting mindless and allows to watch your favorite TV show without being tied up to the pattern description.
It is named after the most visible comet in my life. I was knitting this shawl and watching this amazing comet every evening (if the sky was clear). Out of many comets passed by Earth, this is one clear visible comet.
I was mesmerized for hours, watching it with naked eye, through telescope and the best view was through binoculars. This shawlette was literally knitted along with this comet passing by, it looks like the comet’s tail, and the yarn colors reflecting its dim and the same time sparkly appearance.
I love astronomy, and modern technologies allow us to enjoy and learn a lot of astral events, and the same time our existence is still the biggest mystery.
