Alpaca
I was given a single ball of some beautiful alpaca wool, so the obvious thing that sprang to mind was “knit an alpaca”. I love alpaca, and my dream is to move to the country one day, and have some alpaca of my own.
In this pattern the pieces are knitted flat and seamed. There is a little bit of short row knitting to get the right curves, and a small amount of icord knitting for the hooves. For that reason you need double point needles.
I have recommended some pure alpaca wool from Bearhouse, as this is the wool I used. I found it really good, and very easy to order online. I’m sure other double knit wools would work well, but I wanted to get authentic alpaca shades.
One alpaca takes approx 23g of wool, so you should be able to make two from a 50g ball of wool. Before you know it you may have your own small herd of alpaca.
