Pattern is of a set of coasters and placemats that have been made with same stitches in very similar pattern so they make a set. Any yarn can be used but I recommend a bit bulkier and cotton based yarn. If you use thinner yarn, your gauge will be off but you can repeat some rows to achieve the appropriate size (mentioned below).
Materials
Yarn:
Easter version: byClaire Soft mix- 50g, 50%cotton/50%acryl, 50g/66m, Aran weight, (8 wpi), hook 6mm
Xmas version: Paris from Drops yarn, 100% Cotton, 10 ply, Aran weight, worsted, 50g /82 yds/75 m, hook 5mm
Hook size 5mm (H) - 7mm
Amount of yarn per placemat ~120g
Amount per coaster ~15g
Hook: 5 or 6mm (J)
Needle for sewing in the ends
Scissors
Important
Level: Intermediate
The pattern is made in round, every row is joined by slip stitch.
Sizing: Measurements (after blocking) for coasters are 11x11 cm (~4.25inches) and for the placemat 36x36m (~15 inches)-Easter 30x30cm (12inches)-Xmas version.
The measurements can be adjusted to bigger sizes if last few rows are repeated.
This pattern has been written in the US terms.
The pattern is made in round, so please be sure you’re using the stitch markers unless you’re experienced crocheter.
