Alpine Meadow
The summer that I was 10, my family took an RV trip through the Canadian Rockies. Though some of those memories have faded with time, I still remember the vivid hues of blue that I encountered on that trip--the deep blue of Waterton’s skies, the robin’s-egg blue of Banff’s lakes, the icy blue of the Athabasca Glacier, and the delicate blue of the many flowers that grew along roadsides and in every available meadow.
This hat owes its origins to an equally memorable blue. From the first moment I laid eyes on it, I was captured by its depth and intensity. I knew it had to be made into something especially luscious. After much tinkering, Alpine Meadow was born. Made from bulky yarn, it’s a quick knit and a great introduction to lace.
