This pattern is designed for advanced beginner knitters and assumes that the knitter has knowledge of knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, and increasing and decreasing. Some new techniques might be 2-color knitting and corrugated rib.

The sample was knit with worsted weight commercial wool and hand spun, hand dyed wool, but any yarn that measures 11-12 wraps per inch will knit up nicely in this pattern.

To make your hat really stunning, consider using a gradient or variegated yarn with long sections of color. Each horizontal pattern repeat will incorporate different colors.

Be sure to check your gauge, as everyone knits with different tension.
