This rainbow blanket is made using 3 threads of Knitpicks’ Curio #10 held together, creating a lush, marled effect. The ombre is achieved by changing out one color at the end of each pair of rows. Curio is significantly softer to the touch than regular size 10 cotton thread, and makes a wonderfully warm blanket.

The ombre effect is heightened by using Alpine Stitch, which allows rows in different colors to overlap. It also increases the density of the crochet, making the blanket even more cozy!

I usually prefer to encourage makers to choose their own favorite yarn or thread, but this pattern has been written with Curio #10 in mind. It uses one ball of each color (plus an extra ball of Hawk and Clarity) - so if you have treated yourself to the entire color range this is the ideal project for you!

If the yardage seems extreme, remember that it has been calculated as the length of the original thread. Because you are holding three threads together throughout, the actual worked yardage is closer to 3500 yds.
