Construction:
This worsted weight hat pattern is a great companion for day to day wear. Perfect for running errands, walking the dog, hiking a mountain, or sitting at a brewery. The colorwork on this hat is reminiscent of climbing a trail, enjoying summit views on a mountain, and hiking back down- all part of the journey. This hat is knit in the round starting with a provisional cast on. There is a folded brim which connects your live stitches to your cast on edge before continuing with simple stranded colorwork and easy decreases in the crown.

Difficulty:
This pattern is beginner friendly but has a couple more intricate techniques such as provisional cast on and stranded colorwork. There are no sections within the colorwork that require catching floats.

Size:
There is one size available for this pattern. This hat fits snugly on a typical adult head. However, adjustments to gauge may affect fit.

Notes on Gauge:
You may find your stockinette and colorwork gauges vary. The pattern accounts for this by going up a needle size for the body of the hat when the colorwork begins, but you may need to make further adjustments to meet gauge or to get a fabric you like.

The pattern was designed in two different worsted weight yarns and testers used a variety of other yarns to create the pattern as well. Note a lighter worsted weight yarn will use more yardage than a heavier one.

Materials Used:
US7 16” circular needles
US8 16” circular needles
US8 double pointed needles
An extra circular needle (preferably US7 or smaller) to help pick up stitches from the provisional cast on, though not necessary.
Or needles required to meet gauge

Waste yarn for provisional cast on
Tapestry needle to sew in ends

Yarn Needed:
Main Color: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (175yd)
Contrast Color: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (62yd)
