Altered States Wrap
This wrap is a large snuggly throw around piece that with it’s versatile shape can be worn in many ways. Casting on with just 3 stitches, it’s knit in a Chevron style that moves away from each other, end to end, building up to an even set amount of stitches and then tapering back down to 3 stitches for bind off. It uses nearly 4 skeins of DK weight yarn, 2 for the main colour & 2 contrasting, but you can mix it up even more by using 2 main colours, so you’ll have a different background for each half - there’s a midway point stated in the pattern where you can add extra rows in to enlarge the wrap, that’s where you could also change to your second ‘main colour’ to begin the second half. With the construction of Chevrons that work away from each other, I aimed to achieve a flexible almost boomerang like middle of the wrap shaped by the angles created there, that makes the resulting fabric easier to curl around your neck for many different styles of wear and also to reflect a mirroring.
But this is an Altered State of Reflection, whilst every section has its corresponding section, it’s not quite a mirror image, somethings different, it could be the colour, the slant or the direction of the stitch pattern, even the spine chevron shaping from one side to the other is almost the inverse of each other…
In a time of an altered reality for most of us too, when some of us will be also spending some of that time in a state of reflection as we adapt, when nothing is quite how it should be and uncertainty reigns, this is my offering towards exploring differences and possibilities within them. This is a knit to have fun with, to see the altered reflections appear and how your yarn choices play with them as the image forms - a much needed distraction…

For the sample I used ‘DK’ - Superwash BFL’ from The Wool Kitchen.
The following yarn usage amounts are an approximate guide, and includes the approx yardage amounts I used of each colour.
The following yarn usage amounts are an approximate guide, and includes the approx yardage amounts I used of each colour. The yardage amounts shown are a little over what was actually used in view of rounding up to give you several grams room regarding what’s required for each of the 3 yarns -For instance for Yarn A the actual amount used by myself was 195g, but I have rounded it up to 200g in the yarn requirements in the same way as detailed above, which was done for all the yarn amounts)
In fact I would aim for have some extra of the Yarn A
