With these supplemental patterns you’ll be able to customize our Modern Teddy Bear with an alternate patchwork body, or alternate heart body and a patch of colour over the eye in the head section.

We think, and we hope you agree, that adding options to customize your bear makes knitting our Modern Teddy Bear even more exciting.

For the Heart Alternate Body, you will need at least 5 m of medium weight yarn in colour (B) (more, if knitting the alternately coloured paws and ears as offered in the Modern Teddy Bear pattern.)

For the Patchwork Alternate Body, you will need approximately 22-27 m of medium weight yarn in each of 4 different colours. Yarns (A) to (D). Try to use yarns of equal weight so your bear remains balanced. We like to use different colours of the same yarn so both the weights and the colours of the yarns match.

For the Eyepatch Alternate Head, you will need approximately 10 m of medium weight yarn in colour (B) (more, if knitting the alternately coloured paws and ears as offered in the Modern Teddy Bear pattern.)

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
