Altus
Altus is deceivingly simple in design. It’s name is both depth and height. It is born of nobility.
Altus features an airy mesh lace panel sloping up and along one of the bottom edges of the triangle. That lace is bordered on the outside by a faux i-cord edge. The other two edges are dotted with lofty eyelets.
The pattern starts out with a four row repeat that quickly changes to a two row repeat. The mesh gives you a little something to do between the mindless garter body section in each row. The gauge is slightly open, giving the shawl a light, airy feel.
Wear it as a wrap, pull the point to the front for a striking mesh bandana, or gather it in a long scarf. Any way you wear it, Altus will be light on the shoulders and neck.
Yarn and notions:
Two skeins, fingering weight yarn, 400 yards each.
US #5 circular needle, 32 inches long.
stitch markers
Gauge:
19 sts x 32 rows over 4 in, garter stitch. Though, gauge isn’t important as long as you have a fabric you enjoy. Be aware that gauge change can affect size and amount of yarn used.
