Alumina hat
Alumina is created with a combination of ribbing and a lovely stitch pattern reminiscent of acorns. Hat is worked from the brim up.
This pattern is recommended for an intermediate knitter but suitable for the knitter with a little experience too.
Pattern includes charts and explanation of all the methods used: reading charts, basic decreases (ssk; k2tog; ssp; p2tog; sl 1, k2tog, psso) and center double decrease (knit and purl), increase M1. The acorn pattern is easy to memorize.
Please note: the stitch pattern in this cowl is charted only.
Materials: Less then one skein (by weight 100g) of any Worsted weight yarn.
Needles: Circular needles sizes 3.5 mm (4 US) and 4 mm (6 US), use larger or smaller needles to obtain gauge.
Gauge: When you use needle 4.0 mm 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) = 24 stitches and 28 rows in rib pattern.
Others: One stitch marker, tapestry needle (or crochet hook).
Size: M fits 21.5-23” (55-58 cm) around. You can adjust the size of the finished garment using smaller/larger needles and finer/thicker yarn.
Finish measurements: 16,5”/42 cm circumference & 10.6” (27 cm) from brim to peak.
The pattern was tested.
