The Alva Sweater is a top-down, raglan construction sweater knitted in a 2x2 rib pattern. This intermediate-level knitting pattern requires skills in short rows, raglan increases, and maintaining the ribbing pattern.

The sweater features a form-fitting silhouette with a high neck and a slightly cropped body length that hits around hip-height. The sleeves are designed to be fitted down to the elbows, with a subtle flare towards the wrists. German short rows are used to shape the back of the neck for a comfortable fit around the neck and shoulders.

With its contemporary, minimalist design, the jumper has become a core piece in my Scandinavian-inspired wardrobe. The Alva Sweater can be customized to suit different styles: knit it in stripes, colorful yarns, hand-dyed or even glittery effect yarns for a more maximalist look.

The original alpaca yarn makes the jumper perfect for colder months, from autumn to spring. For a summer version, try using cotton, viscose, or linen yarn. Note that due to the lower elasticity of these yarns, the fit will be less snug compared to wool, offering more breathing room in warmer weather.

The pattern is available in XS (S) M (L) XL (XXL).
In the file download, the size 3XL is also included, but it is currently in the test-knit phase, so I cannot guarantee the fit yet or specify the yarn consumption – therefore, it is not yet included in the listed sizes.
