mycophile — n; a devotee of mushrooms; one whose hobby is foraging wild mushrooms

These sweet little fingerless gloves are inspired by my favourite seasons, autumn: the dulling of the grass, the scattering of fallen leaves, and the joy of discovering a mushroom or three while strolling through the park. The addition of the mushroom motif is optional, as is the placement: I chose to stitch mine on the palms, in the spirit of a true mycophile, gathering mushrooms in my hand, but they can also be worn on the back of the hand as well.

Knit bottom-up in the round, the gloves feature a three-colour zigzag motif; for simplicity, the mushrooms are added afterward using duplicate stitch.

Sizes:
Smaller (to fit a 7” circumference hand)
Larger (to fit an 8” circumference hand), with suggestions for further sizing modifications

Materials:
Fingering weight yarn, in three colours:
• MC: 85-90 yds (78-82 m)
• CC1: 80-85 yds (73-78 m)
• CC2: 20-30 yds (18-27 m)

Plus scrap amount of a fourth colour, for duplicate stitch motif

Yarn used in sample was a variety of skein ends from my stash; Knitpicks Stroll is a comparable alternative.

Knitting needles (circular or DPN) in the following sizes:
• US2 (2.75mm)
• US4 (3.5mm)

tapestry needle

Gauge:
34 sts + 48 rounds = 4”/10 cm, knit in stockinette on smaller needles
