Amalgamation
Combining the colors and textures of these 2 dk weight yarns produces a thick, soft fabric. Designed for four colors, this could easily be adapted to just two, while still maintaining the interesting cable stitch detail.
This boomerang shaped shawl is knit from end to end, largely in garter stitch, incorporating 4-stitch cables. Alternating colors allows for the cables to appear in solid, contrasting colors.
Estimated yardage for each color: (A) 190 yds/174 m; (B) 210 yds/192 m; (C) 175 yds/160 m; (D) 145 yds/133 m. If substituting with a heavier dk, expect to use more yardage.
To work in 2 colors, combine A and D, B and C. This can also be worked in 3 colors by combining either A and D OR B and C.
Gauge listed is after blocking. Unblocked gauge is 4” = 22 sts and 41 rows in garter stitch.
Finished size is 62” (157 cm) along the outer edge, growing from 2 to 31” (5 - 79 cm) from cast on to bind off.
