Portugal es cerámica y fados, el borde de este chal parece que tiene pequeñas teselas que recuerdan a los azulejos de Porto y soy una loca del fado, por lo que este chal lleva el nombre de una de las reinas del fado Amalia Rodrigues, si no la conocéis… buscadla, os tocará el corazón.

NOCIONES PREVIAS:
Para tejer este chal es necesario saber tejer punto del derecho, del revés, montaje en punto del derecho, retomar puntos, y la técnica de los calados.

CONSTRUCCIÓN:
Este chal se teje de arriba hacia abajo (top down) empezando por el borde superior, en el centro, con el montaje “garter tab” o montaje de borde en punto del derecho, y creciendo hacia los laterales y hacia abajo, su forma final es de media luna.

MUESTRA:
19 puntos y 30 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) en punto derecho, sin bloquear.

HILO:
1 madeja de Malabrigo Mechita (100% merino superwash; 100 g / 384 m; 3.52 oz / 420 yds) en color Dried Orange y 2 madejas de Isager Silk Mohair (75% kid mohair, 25% silk; 25 g / 212 m; 0.88 oz / 231 yds) en color 69.

AGUJAS:
Agujas circulares de 3.5 mm (US 4) con cable de 80 cm (32”) o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión. Agujas de un número mayor para cerrar los puntos.

OTROS ACCESORIOS:
Aguja lanera para rematar hebras.

Portugal is ceramics and fados. The edge of this shawl seems to have small tesserae that resemble the tiles from Porto and I am crazy about fado, so this shawl is named after one of the queens of fado Amalia Rodrigues, if you do not know her… find her, she will touch your heart.

SKILLS:
To knit this shawl you need to know how to knit, purl, perform a garter tab cast-on, pick up stitches, yarn over, make increases and lace knitting.

CONSTRUCTION:
This shawl is knit top-down, starting at the centre of the top border, with a garter tab cast-on, then growing to the sides and down, its final shape is a crescent.

GAUGE:
19 stitches and 30 rows in 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) in stockinette stitch, without blocking.

YARN:
1 skein Malabrigo Mechita (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100 g / 384 m; 3.52 oz / 420 yd) in the colourway Dried Orange and 2 balls Isager Silk Mohair (75% Kid Mohair, 25% Silk; 25 g / 212 m; 0.88 oz / 231 yds) in the colourway 69.

NEEDLES:
3.5 mm (US 4) / 80 cm (32”) circular needles, or the required needle size to obtain gauge. Needles 1.5 sizes bigger for bind off.

OTHER NOTIONS:
Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
