Amanda's Secret
Amanda’s Secret is a geometric pattern consisting of chevron stripes that are not quite seamless, not quite together and slightly interrupted. Isn’t it the quirks that make things just a bit more interesting? I think so. This convertible piece can be work as a wrap, chunky scarf or vest so it will be a vital part of your wardrobe to add a bit of color and warmth during the day or stepping out into the cold.
This knit piece is worked in a series of stockinette strips which are later seamed together strategically to give you a vest option. The design is simple yet elegant and the excitement of seaming together each strip as you work them will keep you motivated to finish quickly and wear it as soon as possible. There are no advanced techniques required but the unique color sequence will make it an interesting knit with an attractive result. You also are not required to use wool yarn. A high-quality acrylic could give you the similar results at a fraction of the price.
Amanda’s secret lies in the final seaming. Arm holes are strategically left un-seamed so the wrap converts to a vest garment. I just love things when they have an ulterior motive. Amanda’s Secret (like many of my designs) was named after a Stephen King character, this time a sister of Lisey from “Lisey’s Story” who is struggling with mental issues and self harm. This secret is not nearly as macabre.
