Amelie beanie & scarf
Amelie beanie is a textured and reversible beanie worked in the round, bottom up. The pattern comes in three sizes for head circumference 50-62 cm / 19.5-24.5”. Amelie scarf is worked flat in the same slip stitch pattern as the beanie. The pattern comes in one size but you can easily make it both wider and longer if you want.
YARN MerinoAlpacka DK from Åkerbergs stash (225 m ≈ 250 yds/100 g).
SIZE
Beanie: A-(B)-C, for head circumference: approx. 50/54-(55/58)-59/62 cm / 19.5/21.25-(21.5/23)-23.25/24.5”. Length of the finished beanie approx. 23-(27)-31 cm /
9-(10.75)-12.25” and circumference of the finished beanie approx. 40-(47)-55 cm / 15.75-(18.75)-21.5”.
Scarf: one size, approx. 158 cm / 62” long and 20 cm / 8” wide.
YARN AMOUNT
Beanie: 1-(1)-2 skein OR approx. 180-(220)-260 m / 197-(240)-285 yds.
Scarf: 2 skeins OR approx. 450 m ≈ 492 yds.
ALTERNATIVE YARN Sandnes Double Sunday, Sandnes Alpakka, Järbo Raggi, Lana Grossa 6-ply, Long Dog Yarns merino DK or other squishy yarn in DK weight. Alternatively one strand Fingering together with one strand Lace, for example Nutiden from Höner och Eir + Sandnes Alpakka Folgetråd.
GAUGE
Beanie: 28 sts x 32 r = 10x10 cm / 4x4” over texture pattern incl. slipped stitches worked in the round after blocking (approx. 22-23 sts for 10 cm / 4” over stockinette).
Scarf: 27 sts x 29 r = 10x10 cm / 4x4” over texture pattern incl. slipped stitches after blocking (approx. 21-22 sts for 10 cm / 4” over stockinette).
NEEDLES
Beanie: 3,5 mm (US 4), circular needle 40 cm / 16” long. 3,5 mm (US 4) DPNs for the crown.
Scarf: Straight or circular needles 4 mm (US 6).
TECHNIQUES slipped stitches, slipped stitches, various decreases (beanie only).
NOTIONS one marker (for beanie), darning needle, scissors.
