This design was born in Paris, during my wedding anniversary vacation. I was stunned by the city’s architecture and really wanted to see the famous Notre Dame cathedral, but it was after that awful fire that ravaged it. It was still possible to go and see what was left of the building from the outside, and I was really impressed by its “North Rose” stained glass windows. (if you google it, you will know exactly what I mean ). I called this mandala “Amelie” after my very first friend from France - a girl I met long ago, far away from her home country, who told me so much about her homeland and even taught me some of the language.

This doily is made with Hobbii “Cotton Kings” yarn in “Black/Curry 12” colour and a 2mm hook, but almost any cotton yarn will work perfectly for this project. It has a lot of 3D elements and can be an interesting WIP for intermediate level crocheters. The finished project can work as a doily, a centerpiece for flower compositions, and, if framed - as a mandala wall hanging or a dreamcatcher.
