American Bald Eagle
It’s been on my heart to make an eagle pattern that is both free and actually looks like an eagle. Let’s do justice to the majestic bald eagle with another free pattern, my friends! My original intent was in support of BSA Wood Badge. But I know there are others who just love bald eagles. Or maybe you want a cool free eagle pattern, but don’t specifically want a bald eagle. No problem! Feel free to make this little guy your own. So whether you or someone you know is a Wood Badge Eagle, patriotic, or just think eagles are awesome, this pattern is for you!
This pattern calls for medium weight yarn. I specifically used Red Heart yarn, but any medium weight yarn is fine. It also describes splitting the yarn in half to 2-ply for the talons. This is because I’m kind of cheap and it’s what I have on hand. If you would prefer to use a sport weight or other lighter weight yarn, feel free to.
This pattern was created for the intended purpose of making donatable items for the BSA Wood Badge fundraiser. I give permission to freely make items from this pattern to sell or donate, or for personal use. I only ask that you please help me keep this pattern free and available for its intended use by not selling or claiming the pattern as your own. An intermediate skill level and experience with amigurumi is recommended. There are pictures throughout the pattern, including the end, to aid in placement of pieces. I recommend reading through the entire pattern before beginning. Happy crocheting!
Update: I have recently added a step-by-step pictorial for how to make the wings and tail. You can find it by hitting the Ravelry download button. It should pop up alongside the Eagle pattern.
