One of my favorite parts about the warmer months here in Minnesota is spying the beautiful American Goldfinch. I usually spot the males as a flash of yellow as the fly among meadows and creeks. To celebrate this colorful bird, I designed these socks to resemble their colorful plumage as well as the goldenrod plants I usually see them perched on. These socks are constructed toe up and use the contrasting yellow and black colors so iconic of the American Goldfinch.

These socks are constructed toe up with a circular cast on and round toe construction. The heel and heel flap are constructed using German short row shaping. The main stitch pattern for the sock decoration is derived from either the star or daisy stitch. The cuff is made through garter ribbing. You can substitute your favorite toe, heel, or cuff construction as you desire. This sock utilizes the Star or Daisy stitch. Depending on your tension, this stitch may be tighter than your normal stockinette stitch. If this is the case and to keep socks from being too tight, increase to a larger needle size if needed.

This pattern was written to use FlexiFlips which is similar to using the Magic Circle.
